Great news Mark! By all means, try to get set up with FSK because the filters in the PRO II will allow you to copy MUCH better
during contests.
Here's the link to the transistor interface Charlie was referring to:
http://aa5au.com/rttyinterface.html
You shouldn't need the PTT circuit because you can use radio control to key the radio although I use a transistor to key my PRO III
and don't use radio control for PTT (I do use radio control, just not for PTT).
There really is no standard exchange when not contesting, you can do whatever you want. Usually with DX, it's basically signal
report and maybe name and state if it's not a DXpedition or pileup going. You can ragchew or do whatever you want. Also, you can run
100 watts on RTTY with the PRO II. It's designed for it!
I have a list of macros on rttycontesting.com. Go there and go to RTTY Messages link. These are shown as set up in WriteLog but you
will get the idea of what to do in N1MM.
Let me know if you have any questions. Always glad to help!!!

Well, its sort of like closing the gate after the cows have already left.
The NAQP RTTY was this past weekend, and now, on Monday night, I finally get set up to run RTTY. On well, at least I should be early
for the next one.
With no canned messages or macros, I had a conversation with N2MGT in New York at about 40 watt level. I'm using AFSK, and
with N1MM, have it set to automatically go to AFSK (LSB) when within the rtty sub band, and change back to regular cw or phone when
in their respective sub bands. The Pro II has a rtty mode, which seems to have much better filters, but AFSK was SO much easier to
get set up, at least for now. Currently, I will only be SO1R on rtty, but may eventually get it working on both radios. Better learn
how to do it on ONE first.
I assume there is a "standard" exchange when not contesting, and another much abbreviated exchange when contesting. Okay
Charlie, Don, or some of you Gurus, fill me in on what I should (or shouldn't) be doing before I prove to the world that I know
nothing about this mode.

Mark, K5ER
