Comments:

I took most of my antennas down for Hurricane Francine earlier in the month and
didn't put them back when Helene formed. With the tropics active, I have decided
to leave everything down until after hurricane season.

The only antennas I have up are a "homebrew" 2-element SteppIR at 35'
and a Cushcraft D40 rotatable dipole just above up but at 90 degrees out on the
same tower.

I didn't do as well as single band 15 efforts in 2012 and 2014 but I don't think
the limited antennas had anything to do with it. It just seemed to me that
activity was way down on 15. I took a look on 10 Sunday late morning and it
looked a lot better than 15. Maybe I chose the wrong band. I don't know. Band
conditions should have been better but they weren't.

Regardless, it was great to get some seat time in. You can't take for granted
the time we get to spend in front of our radios. I'm glad I got to take part in
the fun.

BIG thanks to my wife, Sharon, for keeping me fed during the contest.

Hopefully I'll get my antennas back up in October or November. Not sure I'll
make JARTS but hope to make WAEDC RTTY. And of course, I'll be ready for
Roundup.

Thanks to everyone for all the contacts.

73, Don AA5AU
