Jan 14th 2020 was the official end-of-support date for Windows 7. Yet,
there are countless Windows 7 computers still out there.

If an update to Windows 10 is something you have been considering, this
might be an option for you. Last night I was able to use this process
to upgrade all five of my shack computers at no cost. Took between 30
minutes to an hour per computer.

Download Windows 10 - Create Windows 10 installation media

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

Download the file.

Burn the ISO to DVD.

On the Win 7 PC to be upgraded, check for Windows Updates, and install
all IMPORTANT updates, then reboot.

Be sure the Windows 7 install is ACTIVATED - if not, this is a critical
stop. Use the product key to activate the Windows 7 install before
continuing.
I have not had to have the Windows Product Key, but never hurts to have
it in-hand if available.

After reboot, insert the ISO DVD. Run SETUP.EXE
Follow on-screen instructions.

Once it starts, go take a walk, then refill your coffee cup and return.

After the install/conversion/update completes, your Windows login
credentials remain unchanged.

Microsoft Edge will now be the default web browser and PDF reader. That
is easily changed in DEFAULT APPS
