Yes, we need much better (more) participation by Louisiana stations. I dream
of a LAQP with all 64 Louisiana parishes on.

But we're not helping ourselves by insisting on the LAQP on the same weekend
as two (2) major contests. We can do better with little effort. It would be
a big step in the right direction. The downside of picking a better weekend
is zero, and the upside is maybe more participation and absolutely more fun!

     The choice of a date for LAQP has been tossed around for years.  
It's been hard to believe the club can't come up with a date that most
members can agree on and go with it. The hard fact is the date is not what's
holding it back. IMHO. There is another reason the LAQP isn't as successful
as it should be. There is no where near enough in state operators on the air
during the LAQP time to entice participation. It only takes about an hour
and a single station outside Louisiana can work all in state stations. A lot
more time and energy needs to be placed on getting the other stations ON THE
AIR during the LAQP.  A better job of promoting the LAQP in state and out of
state is needed.  You can't host a QSO party and no one shows up.
