I'm curious that you say a ham got DQ'd after a top 5 finish because he
didn't have a recording. You make it sound as if it's a requirement. Or is
it because he could not back up what he had in his log with a recording?
Just curious.
WriteLog has had this recording feature for many years now although I have
to admit that I've never recorded a contest. Maybe I should try it.
With WriteLog, you can click on an entry in your log and it will play the
contact. I understand it also works for RTTY.
Interesting stuff.

Subject: [LCC] QSO Recording and publishing
Hi Friends!
Just wanted to take a couple of minutes to update you on somethings I've
recently tried at the W5WZ station.
QSO / Contest Recording
==================================
With the recent discussion on CQ-Contest of the ham getting DQ'd after a
top 5 finish because he didn't have a recording of the contest, I
figured I'd give it a try. I wanted to do it with what I had on hand
for the time being, with ZERO cost. So I spent many hours last week
working on the configuration necessary to do this in my station.
Finally got it to work in CW mode on Friday afternoon. Thus, I wanted
to play some in the ARRL DX CW contest.
PC - Windows 7, had to adjust some audio settings and levels as
instructed in the MK2R+ manual
N1MM+ - nothing had to change in my configuration inside of N1MM+
MK2R+ - had to 'readjust' the audio level in every place in the device,
according to the latest version manual
Also had to push the WYH button on the front, so that the
yellow WHY LED is on
QSORDER - ran it in default configuration, with a couple of command line
switches
qsorder "-C" "-P 12060" "--so2r"
Transceivers - TX MONITOR had to be ON, with audible audio in my ears
How it works:
QSORDER software records a continuous audio stream with the -C (contest)
switch. It appears to break the audio into a file for every hour of the
contest. But the really cool part is that it also listens on the
network on TCP port 12060, which is the port that N1MM+ outputs the QSO
data when you log a QSO. QSORDER listens for that, and upon receipt,
waits 20 seconds, and then saves the past 45 seconds of audio in a file
named with the details of the QSO, i.e.:
HG5C_de_W5WZ_ARRLDXCW_CW_20180218_033232Z_7MHz.mp3
Then, I followed the instructions at https://qsorder.hamradiomap.com/
to upload and link my QSO data to the shared database. To see what this
can do, go to the link and search for P40E, PJ2T, CR3DX, etc then locate
my call in the summary below. Click my call for all the audio of QSOs
between us.
