[LCC] LCC meeting @ Shreveport hamfest

Hi Guys,
      Wow, how time seems to slip by. I intended to send this at 
least a week before the hamfest, and suddenly its already hamfest 
eve. The LCC will meet at the Shreveport hamfest on August 13, at 
11:00 AM, in the meeting room (across the street from the main hamfest site).

      We will be passing out certificates for the Louisiana winners 
in the LaQP. All out of state certificates should hit the mail within 
a couple of weeks. As soon as they are mailed, the final results will 
be posted to the web site.

      Nominations will be opened for officers for next year. Because 
our club covers such a large area, we allow online nominations. 
Starting early next week, paid members will be able to log on to the 
club web site and make a nomination. There will be a link at the top 
of the page to guide you. There will be a  "window" during which 
nominations are open, then they will close and a list of nominees 
will be posted. Paid members will then be able to place their vote 
online. These will be pooled with live votes at our next meeting 
(Pineville) and the new officers will be named. There hasn't been 
quite as much mud-slinging in this race as in the national ones, but 
it does promise to be almost as exciting as watching paint dry. This 
club has been known to nominate someone in absentia, so you should 
plan to be there to decline and defend yourself.

      I am sure our President will have some words of wisdom for us, 
encouraging individual and team participation during the coming contest season.

      Lastly our former President and recent convert to Texas-ism, 
KG5VK, will have a nice presentation on one of the slick, high 
performance- multiple element, low band receiving arrays.

Come pick up your certificate (you DID participate in LaQP, right?), 
learn something new, and visit with other contest club members. Hope 
to see you there.
