Comments:

It was 25 years ago that I had to QRT a few hours into CQWW RTTY to evacuate for
Hurricane Georges back in 1998. Luckily there were no storms to worry about this
weekend. The weather was perfect for contesting. Hopefully Ophelia didn't affect
the east coast too much.

Last year I only got to operate about half the contest since I was just getting
over COVID and then gave it to the XYL and stopped to take care of her. We are
all fine now but at the time it was scary.

It was rough going on Saturday. I got really tired. I didn't get any rest ahead
of the contest because I had to work Friday. Conditions were marginal Saturday
and at some point Sunday the K dropped to 0 and things picked up quite a bit. I
see the K went to 5 at the end but I had a steady stream of USA to keep me busy
on 15 and 20 meters. When I lost the JA's on 15 two hours before the end I knew
something had happened.

I'm 66 years old and these 48-hour contests are hard for me now. I took about
six hours off each night and got enough sleep to where I was fairly functional
at the end. I did enjoy it. Nice to put another one in the books.

Thanks to everyone for the contacts. My little station performed well (again).
Not sure if this is my best LP Assisted score or not. Been in too many of these
things to keep track.

Thanks to my wife Sharon for taking care of me this weekend. She's the best. Now
for a filet mignon, cold Dos Equis Ambar beer and a good night's sleep. It
doesn't get any better!

73, Don AA5AU
