Thanks Marcel. The ARRL RTTY Roundup is a special contest for me. I won Single Op Low Power in the very first RU in 1989. It was the first contest I ever won. When you win a major contest, you get a feeling that you want to win again. It took 4 years but I finally won it again in 1993.

I have operated full-time 24-hour efforts in all 32 Roundups to date and was fortunate to have won my category 25 times including a 14-year winning streak from 1995-2009 in SOLP that included 8 world records in SOLP. Only six times did I not win SOLP (1990 3rd, 1991 2nd, 1992 2nd, 1994 3rd, 2009 2nd & 2014 2nd). The ARRL added Unlimited classes for high and low power in 2014 but I did not start operating in that category until the next year 2015. So far I have not been defeated in SOLP Unlimited in five tries (not including this year). I own the current world record in both the SOLP (2012) and SOLPU (2015) categories.

I have won this contest so many times that for the past few years I no longer care about winning. To me, I get more fun out of this contest than any other. I obtain rates higher in this contest than any other. I hope to continue operating this one until I no longer can. If I would only be able to operate one contest a year, it would be this one.

I have to hand it to you folks who like to sit in one place and work Q's. I start to go cross-eyed after a while when running a frequency. ,...sigh,...I suppose it takes both of us to make a contest;... S&P and sit-stays! Good job Don.

Comments:

I made 49 FT4 contacts and one (CU7AA) was a new multiplier so it was worth

it.

FT4 is still not fast enough in a rate contest like Roundup.

Conditions were fair on Saturday but when the K jumped to 4 on Sunday, 20

meters was only marginal. Could not hear the two KL7 stations that were

spotted there on Sunday.

Not bad considering we are still in the lowest part of the sunspot cycle. I

sure do miss 15 and 10 meters. It was fun but a lot of work as usual.

Missed ND.
