[LCC] 2020 LAQP

Kevin,

Maybe "congestion" means something different to you and me.

Congestion to me means many other stations transmitting - QRM. Lower power
and smaller antennas will not change that - except if using smaller antennas
you might not hear as well.

If congestion to you means how many stations answer your CQ CONTEST (if more
than 3 or 4 I might call that a pileup), then yes, lower power and smaller
antennas would mean fewer replies - less congestion (smaller pileup).

Marsh, KA5M

Kevin,

Really? If I run 100W RF out to less than a stack of monobanders I will not
experience band congestion? "Any knowledgeable contester knows (that)"?

I want to be in the room at CTU when you reveal to all that "Most modest
stations (tri-banders and wires) running 100 watts never have any problem."

Clearly, I am not a knowledgeable contester.

Marsh,

I'm not sure that I can agree 100% with your statement about band congestion
during the LAQP being that big of a deal. Sure you can make it congested.
Running max power and pointing a stack at Europe is going to make it
congested. And if that's all your interested in is those kind of numbers,
someone might do just that. But as any knowledgeable contester knows, that's
not what you want to do to avoid that kind of interference. Most modest
stations (tri-banders and wires) running 100 watts never have any problem.
I will throw it out to you. Tell us when you want to have the LAQP so we
don't have any congestion???
