[LCC] LCC Digest, Vol 100, Issue 5

Yes, exactly. I was very disheartened but vowed I would not abandon the effort. I was in the process of securing another callsign to use from home in case the Internet did come back up. That's when the Internet came back. The contest ended up being a lot of fun. I only operated 8 hours because I wanted the other members to get their fair share of time at the keyboards. I did operate from midnight to 6 AM Saturday night and operated two of the remote stations at the same time in a sort of "SO2R" setup. I had done this before and it's a blast. It requires two separate computers on my end. I took the audio out from the sound cards and fed them to the inputs of my Dunestar 2-radio headset box. It's nearly identical to how I do SO2R RTTY at home using separate computers/keyboards/mice, etc.
The highlight of the contest for me was working TF1AN on 80 meters. It was an all time new entity for me on 80 meters. And it counts toward my DXCC since it was made from the same DXCC country (USA).
The biggest challenge I've had since the contest was getting the contacts uploaded to eQSL. LoTW was easy using DXKeeper. I just had to create new locations in both DXKeeper and TQSL. But eQSL was a challenge. I did finally get it done but I don't like the way I had to do it.
We will be doing another Multi-Multi from W4AAW in the BARTG RTTY Contest in March. I'm a little apprehensive since AA5AU is the current World record holder for M/M in BARTG. Ron, K5DJ, and I operated as AA5AU from W5KFT in 2000.

Comments:

We lost the first 15 3/4 hours of the contest due to an inexplicable Internet
service failure.  First time that has ever happened to us.  With six of the
seven members of our RTTY team working remotely, that should spell disaster!  The
Internet came back up about 10 AM on Saturday.  The service provider has no
explanation.

The 8-million point comeback following an almost 16-hour late start is a real
tribute to the amazing resolve, resilience and dedication of our RTTY operator
group.

The six remote ops logged in from the following locations:

AA5AU    Don      Louisiana
N1MGO    Gordon  Massachusetts
W6IHG    Jerry    Virginia***            *** indicates PVRC member
W4TMO    Jim      North Carolina***
MM0LID  Scott    Scotland
KJ0D    Eric    Missouri

W4AAW    Mike    from the shack in VA***

Out team would like to congratulate the ops at NR4M.  They were everywhere and
certainly led all things RTTY in North America with their efforts.  Hats off to
Steve-NR4M and his crew.

Thanks to Don-AA5AU, our RTTY Chairman for the use of his famous call.
Hopefully, Don, we done you proud.

Thanks to Ed-W0YK for his contest leadership and to CQ Magazine for its
sponsorship of the best contests in RadioSport.

Finally, thanks to all we worked, for the Qs.

A real nail-bighter that seems to have turned out more than "OK."
