I wasn't "contesting" in this one; I was tuning and listening, and checking
packet spots for on 40M only looking for new band-countries.  My goal was
100,
but could only manager to work 79.  My OCF dipole at 70' seemed to play
well,
and short of a 2-elem Yagi at 70" or phased verticals -- neither of which I
have
real estate for -- I'm not sure of what I could put up that will work
better.
Maybe next year I'll operate 80M only if I can get up a planned 80M vertical

with a 1/4 wavelength radiator and a FCP, and a low-noise 80M receive-only
antenna.
