(forwarded from the CTDXCC email list - Thanks Robert!)

Tomorrow is the IARU contest. It starts at 7AM local time and runs for 24
hours. Exchange is signal report and ITU zone (we're in zone 7). There are
also headquarters stations that will send an IARU society abbreviation,
e.g., ARRL, JARL, RSGB, etc. You might also work a station sending AC, R1,
R2, or R3. Rules are here. http://www.arrl.org/iaru-hf-championship

The World Radio Team Championship (WRTC) is a contest within the IARU
contest that brings the world's best contesters to a single location (this
year, Russia) for what many call the Ham Radio Olympics.

Several folks from the Central Texas club (CTDXCC) are involved.
N5AW and his partner N4TZ will be participating, while K5NA and W5ZL are
also in Russia as referees.

The competitors will
have special callsigns R31A - R39R.
http://www.southgatearc.org/news/june2010/wrtc_callsigns.htm These are
handed out at the last minute so teams cannot be identified by their call
and worked/spotted by friends. It will probably be a little tough to work
the competitors this year, especially since they're operating with Field Day
type stations - single tribander, wires, and 100W. But these ops are the
best of the best, so they'll be making the most of whatever propagation
there is.
